About Rolling Acres Angus
All great herd sires come from great cows.
Rolling Acres Angus was founded in 1998 by Dale and Karen Voss on 1,400 acres of native grass and hay ground outside Belle Fourche. The operation started with 60 commercial cows and a single registered bull. Today the registered cowherd exceeds 120 head and produces 60 to 70 bulls annually for private treaty and annual sale.
Our breeding program is built around a small nucleus of proven cow families that have demonstrated the ability to pass maternal traits to their daughters. We use artificial insemination and embryo transfer selectively to accelerate genetic progress, but we have never traded visual correctness for a number on a page. EPDs are a tool. The cow is the proof.
We work with commercial producers across western South Dakota, eastern Wyoming, and southwestern North Dakota. Most of our customers come back every year because the bulls work. Calf crops are heavier, disposition is quiet, and the cows are still in the herd at 10 years old. That is the standard we hold ourselves to and the only one that matters.
Performance
We select sires that produce progeny built to perform on grass and in the feedlot. Growth, efficiency, and carcass merit are non-negotiable selection criteria.
Maternal Strength
Our cowherd is the foundation. We demand longevity, fertility, udder quality, and the ability to wean a heavy calf with minimal input every single year.
Structural Soundness
Bulls that break down are not bulls that work. Every animal leaving our ranch has been evaluated for feet, legs, scrotal circumference, and disposition before it goes in the catalog.
We have earned a reputation for straight dealing and for standing behind every animal we sell. If a bull does not work out in the first breeding season, we want to hear about it. Herd visits are always welcome. Call ahead and come see the cattle.
